Jesus, what do You see when You look at us?
Do you see people who put faith into practice?
Do you see people who live as if they know
That without Christ, sin will conquer this world?
Do you see people who talk to you in prayer,
Who share everything with You, in complete trust?
Do your see people who read Your Word,
Willing to dig deep to understand it and love it?
Do You see people who are energised by the Spirit
And transformed by the power of Your love?
Do You see people motivated to work for You,
Confident that God’s grace will change the world?
Do you see people who are obedient, all the time,
Willing to do what You ask, whatever the cost?
Jesus, what do You see when You look at us?
Tell us the truth, so that we might be set free!

Devotions - Friday 16th of December

Lord God, we offer You our hopes and dreams, our thoughts and feelings, and our faith and deeds. Align all these with the priorities both of Your glorious Kingdom and Your eternal plan, and grant each of us who own Your name the joy and happiness of being Your servant on earth. We long to live as Your disciples according to Your call, and we thank You for calling us and using us, Lord God. May we always serve You and bless Your holy Name.
ALLELUIA!
Consider praying under these four headings, and pray as you feel led. The ideas below may help.
General theme for the week: WATER
1. For self
Offer the Lord your repentance for wasting the resources He has given you of things like water and power. It is only when we accept that such things are God’s gifts that we will honour His creation in the way He requires.
2. For friends and family
Pray a prayer of repentance on behalf of your family and friends for your failure to use God’s earthly resources to the full. Find ways to talk about what you have prayed to those you meet this day.
3. For the church and its work
Pray that God’s people will demonstrate to the world what it means to use God’s resources, such as water, aright. Pray for those who reject such things as irrelevant to faith, and pray that the church might be at one in honouring God’s creation
4. For neighbourhood, country and world (the ‘news’)
Pray against the forces of evil that seek to destroy God’s work on this planet; remember that all life ‘begins’ in water, and pray God’s protection on this precious resource

Mark 10:32-45
Jesus talks to the disciples about the coming events; His death and resurrection. They respond with quibbling about what places they will have in God’s Kingdom! But eventually Jesus elicits from them a wonderful expression of faith
Proverbs 1:24-33
Wisdom speaks out against those who will not hear her words. She warns that those who reject her become irrelevantly self important. Those who accept her receive the benefits of security in all things, under God.
